At Tranquil Architecture, we help busy Canberrans create comfortable, sustainable,
high-performing and healthy homes through a clear and well-managed design process.

Reine and Paul and the team at tranquil did an absolutely wonderful job with our renovation.

We are a large family needing to make the most efficient use of the space in our home.

The team enabled our 4 bed 3 (poorly sealed and dysfunctional) bath home to be transformed into a 6 bed + study with three lovely bathrooms with lots of storage, meeting all our needs without any addition.

Everyone is loving all of the improvements 🥰

Reine, Paul and the team were wonderful to work with.

They guided us through from the initial "should we knock down or renovate" conversation, to an amazing concept which really took in our brief and was mindful of the various constraints of our block.

As well as full architectural service they also put our project to tender and helped to select the builder.

They engaged with the builder throughout the build as well as joining us on many site visits.

We appreciated their professional but relaxed approach and would happily work with them again.

Our brief to Reine and Paul was to come up with a cost effective way of making our home more energy efficient and ways to make our entrance way and an outdoor courtyard area more usable all year round.

They provided us with excellent advice and we are now enjoying our second comfortable winter after enduring many years of misery during previous Canberra winters.

We found them to be very professional and a pleasure to work with and we remain very grateful for their professional assistance and contribution to our home.

Reine and Paul took the time to really understand our brief.

We loved the very structured way we were able to work through developing the plan for our home.

Was a great experience!

[As a Builder] we get great satisfaction when working with an architect that takes as much care with their documentation as the team at Tranquil do.

It translates to better, faster, more efficient results for client and builder alike.

When my partner & I set out to find architects, we had a very clear picture of what we needed - an entire reconfiguration of our homes’ interior.

However, throughout the process, one or both of us changed our mind on that “clear” picture many times.

Tranquil Architects were very patient and accommodating, revisiting different spaces, specs & details many times.

They listened to our contrasting preferences and offered their advice and expertise to blend our different visions into a design that met expectations.

Having a detailed fee proposal and flexible schedule right from the outset, was very helpful for us too.

We had a wonderful experience working with Tranquil Architecture on the design of our energy-efficient, “passive haus” style home.

They not only created a highly functional layout but also added genuine personal touches and practical advice that really elevated the final design. Their insights helped shape a home that feels uniquely ours while still being thoughtfully efficient.

We also appreciated their support when liaising with the builder — it made the whole process much smoother.

There were moments when communication wasn’t perfectly seamless, but that’s completely normal in a long, detailed project, and everything was always resolved professionally. Overall, we’re very happy with the outcome and grateful for their dedication.

Highly recommend!

We had the privilege of Reine designing our home renovation in 2018-19.

She was tasked with the challenge of working within the existing foundation (no extension) of the original home with the view of added features such as a second bathroom, study nook and entry way to name a few all under a tight budget.

The home we have now is beyond what we hoped for in that it is very energy efficient.

Reine's design choices were farsighted in that what we enjoy today and would not compromise on were not too clear at the time of the design process.

Reine steered us away from bad design decisions and guided us throughout the design and build process.

She is professional is her service and is an approachable person.

She listened to us and had our best interest at the forefront always.

In a nutshell, communication was honest and easy making the project smooth.

If we were renovate or build another home, we would not hesitate to consult with Reine again.

When we first met, we weren’t exactly sure what we wanted, except that we hoped for a deck roof that complemented the style of our home and had a touch of “magic.”

We’re very grateful for your part in making it happen. Your design guided the build, and your ideas—especially the gabled roof and the use of synthetic decking—added real character and functionality.

Thank you both again for the wonderful contribution you made to our beautiful new deck.

Reine and Paul have been wonderful to work with - great ideas and advice for our planned renovations, kept us on track with their clearly articulated (yet flexible!) schedule and worked with us to fit in our ideas and make sure the design worked for our lifestyle.

Looking forward to seeing it come to life in the coming months when the build commences.

Thank you Reine and Paul!

Working with Reine (at her previous firm) was hassle free and very rewarding.

She designed an accessible, space- and energy-efficient secondary residence for me.

Very happy to recommend her

I engaged Reiné in 2019/2020 on the design of a new house, when she was working for another company.

I was a complete novice and Reiné guided me through the design and decisions process to achieve a terrific design for my needs, my site and the Canberra climate.

She understood what I was looking for very quickly, and she worked with my preferences and decisions.

Equally, when I had no idea she proposed ideas and styles that exactly fitted what I liked.

She was terrific in designing all the spaces to work together.

I would happily engage Reiné again, whether it be for a renovation or new build.

My partner and I engaged Reine through her previous employer.

Our brief was to uplift an ex-government residence into a completely energy efficient design with a small footprint and limited budget - a near impossible feat!

Reine was fantastic and worked within our tight budget and delivered a design that will reach over 7 stars of energy efficiency rating.

The build will begin this week! *excited* Nat

Paul and Reine are definitely human architects that have done a wonderful job designing our renovation, and been responsive to our wants and needs as clients.

Would use their services again, definitely human.
